Uniform Division

The Uniform Division is the largest and most visible arm of the department. They are uniformed and considered the backbone of the department. Officers assigned to the division are the first responders to all incidents and are responsible for a wide variety of law enforcement functions including the enforcement of all traffic and criminal laws. Investigations for the most part are initiated in this division and then passed on to other divisions for follow-up.

The Trenton Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency empowered to enforce all laws and ordinances in the state of Michigan and the city of Trenton.  The uniform division operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The objectives of the Uniform Division are to effectively patrol the city and execute the responsibilities of the Department through preventive patrol and active enforcement of the law; perform a variety of diverse services, including enforcement, general assistance, emergency assistance, alleviating public hazards; and to assist the public and protect the community.

The Uniform Division seeks to deter crime and disruptions through the city. Uniform officers are the first responders to a wide range of calls for services. They conduct preliminary criminal and traffic accident investigations; enforce criminal and traffic laws and the ordinances of the City of Trenton. Uniform Officers also assist citizens with medical and social issues through intervention and/or referrals to the appropriate state or county agency.

The work of the Uniform Division helps to create a safe and peaceful community for the citizens of the City of Trenton.
